First field visit in Uganda - May 2017
Project meeting in Uganda
In the week of 15-19th May representatives of all organizations in Uganda involved in SMALL got together. During the first two days the project partners updated each on the progress made in the several activities per Work Package. New colleagues from NWSC and local consultancy Pro Utility were also present during these meetings and got acquainted with the work of SMALL.
As part of the visit a project delegation formed by Moses (EAWAG – Swiss Federal Institute of Aquatic Science and Technology), Gloria (Makerere University), Sarah (National Water and Sewerage Corporation) and Mireia (IHE delft) visited the cluster towns around Bushenyi, in Western region in Uganda. The aim of this visit was to collect preliminary data to contextualize and better determine the work to be developed in Work Packages 1 (service models) and 3 (impact of models on users). During this visit we were accompanied by the Head Engineer from Bushenyi and visited the installations of Bushenyi Main, Kabhowe and Rubirizi. We had also the opportunity to interact with the local leaders in these towns. Moses established his first contacts as he adventures into the development of a detailed baseline for water quality monitoring in the coming three months in the region.
